Dr. Anna Caroline Boyes is a passionate voice teacher and soprano dedicated to helping singers reach their full potential. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Toronto, where she studied with renowned Professor Lorna MacDonald. Her research pedagogically explored vocal works by contemporary composers Reena Esmail, Kamala Sankaram, and Naresh Sohal, which she presented at the 2025 Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Association national conference.

Anna has been recognized with numerous distinctions, including the Brenda Berge Vocal Excellence Award, scholarships from the London Music Scholarship Foundation and the Mariana Paunova & Stefano Algieri Fund, and the Gaelyne Gabora Memorial Prize from McGill University. She has also been a National Finalist in the Canadian Music Competition.

As a vocal instructor, Anna combines her knowledge of vocal pedagogy with her experience as a performer. Since 2015, she has run an active private studio, guiding students of all ages and levels in developing evidence-based technique, expressive artistry, and confidence on stage, thereby preparing them effectively for performance. Many of her singers have gone on to excel in Royal Conservatory of Music exams, music festivals, competitions, and post-secondary music programs, while others have earned lead roles in school and community musical theatre productions.

At the University of Toronto, Anna serves as Vocal Coach for the Soprano/Alto Chorus and has mentored undergraduate pedagogy students, taught in the Engineering Music Minor program, and collaborated with a range of university ensembles.

Beyond teaching, Anna is an accomplished performer who has appeared with Toronto Operetta Theatre, Arcady, UWOpera, Summer Opera Lyric Theatre, Durham Philharmonic Choir, Cantate Iterum, Accademia Europea dell’Opera in Italy, and more. She has portrayed roles such as Handel’s Alcina, Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare, and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, as well as oratorio favourites like Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, and Mozart’s Requiem.

Whether preparing for a university audition, building technique for performances, or simply developing a love of singing, Anna creates a supportive and inspiring environment where each student can thrive.

Dr. Anna Boyes’ studio, Voce Vita, is a place where motivated singers are guided with expertise, artistry, and care—equipping them to shine in auditions, competitions, and on stage.
